Where I came from
Husna Ara Begum was born in Sylhet, East Pakistan in 1948, the year after Partition. When she was 18, she moved with her husband, who worked in the Foreign Service of the Pakistan government, to Islamabad in West Pakistan and then to Saudi Arabia. In 1972 they returned to Dhaka in Bangladesh and then moved to London the same year. For a year they lived in Surrey, but then moved to East London, where she has remained.
